About This Place

Nestled conveniently at 8140 SE Cora St, Gyro House SE Portland offers an authentic journey into Mediterranean flavors with a particular spotlight on expertly crafted gyros. This vibrant restaurant has become a beloved spot in Portland, celebrated for its generous portions, fresh ingredients, and the enticing aromas that greet you upon entering.

The menu dazzles with a variety of options that cater to diverse tastes, but the true standout is undoubtedly their Lamb Gyro, praised repeatedly by patrons for its tender, succulent meat wrapped in warm, soft pita bread. Fans like Kate Rood rave about the “fresh and flavorful” gyro that leaves you fully satisfied, while John Henry notes that the ample size of the lamb gyro is impressively shareable – a perfect balance of juicy meat, crisp veggies, and luscious sauces.

For those seeking a little spice and extra flair, the Lamb Gyro with Spicy Garlic Sauce and the Lamb Gyro with Feta and Spicy Sauce add bold, exciting layers of flavor that tease the palate beautifully. Their inventive Lamb Gyro Pizza is a delightful twist, merging Mediterranean staples with a comforting pizza base. Complementing the gyros, the Greek Fries topped with feta cheese have earned a cult following, especially when paired with tender lamb — a combination that Dylan McCann calls “heaven.”

Beyond gyros, the kitchen impresses with an array of kebabs including the savory Kafta Kebab Plate, the richly flavored Lamb Kebab Plate, and a satisfying Kebab Combination for those craving a variety of grilled delights. Vegetable lovers will appreciate the Veggie Kebab Plate served with perfectly seasoned basmati rice and a refreshing Greek salad that balances the meal harmoniously.

The dessert menu is a treasure trove of Middle Eastern sweets. Their Jumbo Baklava delights with delicate layers of flaky filo pastry, walnuts, and pistachios drenched in a light sugar syrup, producing a perfect harmony of crunchy texture and sweetness. For something unique, try the Kanafeh – a luscious Middle Eastern cheese pastry soaked in a fragrant rose syrup that leaves a lingering floral sweetness. These desserts cap off the meal with warmth and richness that linger long after the last bite.

Families are warmly welcomed with a dedicated kids menu featuring smaller portions like the Kid’s Falafel Gyro and freshly grilled lamb or chicken skewers served with sides that kids love, making it easy for all ages to experience the rich Mediterranean flavors thoughtfully.

Gyro House SE Portland shines not only for its food but also for its inviting atmosphere. The seating area is cozy and straightforward, creating a casual dining experience where the food truly takes center stage. Many guests, including Joel Yarber, have been delighted by the warm hospitality and prompt, friendly service, making for a comfortable place to savor your meal whether dining in or taking food to go.

While some reviews mention the price point as a bit on the higher side, most agree that the quality, portion sizes, and complex flavors justify the investment. You’ll leave not just full, but genuinely impressed by the skill and care that goes into every dish.

Whether you're a Portland local craving a satisfying gyro or someone eager to explore rich Mediterranean tastes, Gyro House SE Portland is a destination where authentic flavors, generous servings, and heartfelt service come together to deliver a dining experience that lingers in your memory, long after the last delicious bite.

This is such a tasty gyro! I always get the lamb gyro with a side of baba ganoush. Fresh and flavorful and HUGE. So satisfying. Today we were treated to free soup - score. Definitely recommend.

Amazing food! Fresh ingredients, delicious outcomes that are beautiful. The hummus is perfection as well as is the pita bread. My favorite is the lamb gyro but you have to get the house fries with feta! You can top them with lamb if you’re ready for heaven. The tzatziki and garlic sauces are so good you will be tempted to drink them if you get extra sides! Can believe how quick the service despite the constant orders going through!!! Best in Portland!!!

Stopped in after work for some quick Mediterranean eats. I was pleasantly surprised with the warm greeting and quick service. The atmosphere was so nice I decided to stay and eat in the restaurant. The food though was the real treat! WOW, the lamb gyro is so delicious and the sambosa was mind blowing! There was so much delicious food that I had to get a to go box, and I was so looking forward to my leftovers for lunch the next day! I highly recommend this place to everyone, it’s an eating experience you won’t forget!

I got the lamb gyro, and it was $14 - sounds steep but most definitely shareable b/w two people (I could not finish it, and I am an eater). Meat was plentiful and delicious. Sauces and cheese are lovely, veggies fresh and crisp. Pita is very good, nice a soft. Seating area is totally fine, nothing fancy. Bottom line: Recommend if you have a hankering for a huge, delicious gyro.

The food was absolutely amazing! We had the Kafta Kebab Plate, a Lamb Gyro, Sambosas, Lamb Fries, and Baklava. The portions were generous, and most things could likely be shared by two people. I only gave it 4 stars, because it was a bit expensive. Great food though. I will definitely come back.

Most delicious gyros in our area! The falafels are fresh and amazing. Pitas and samosas are made to order and absolutely to die for. Every time we come here we are greeted with fantastic customer service, kindness, and authentic food. Highly recommend!

Definitely some of the best Gyros in Portland, I’ll definitely be back. The only thing I didn’t like is that it was pretty cold in the restaurant.

Amazing lunch spot! My sister and I both got Gyros. They were huge with a lot of meat and totally worth the price. I would definitely recommend adding the spicy garlic and feta! The staff is friendly and helpful. The inside is kept really clean too which I appreciated. Will definitely be back.
